About Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is best described as being in a relaxed state, somewhere between being wide awake and fast asleep.  Each, and every one of us has experienced this state when dropping off to sleep and waking up, when daydreaming or when meditating.  It is a natural state of mind.  At all times, when in the hypnotic state, you will remain aware of your surroundings and be in control, yet feel very relaxed.

While you are in that relaxed state, I will work with your subconscious mind to help you break those unwanted habits, such as smoking, excessive eating or to help you rid yourself of those unwanted fears or phobias, negative feelings of depression or unwanted feelings of guilt or anger.

Using the language of the mind, I can also help you to increase your confidence, enhance sports performance, quit smoking, relax or calm exam nerves.

Hypnosis is very safe and as long as the client is willing to co-operate, and they feel comfortable with the therapist, they will easily enter the hypnotic state.  Be reassured that you cannot be made to do anything that you do not want to do.

If you decide you would like to work with me, your first session will last between one and a half to two hours.  During that time, we will discuss, in confidence, what issue you would like to address and what you would like to achieve from your therapy.  I will then explain your individually tailored therapy and answer any questions you may have.  Once you are ready, we will begin the therapy.

The number of sessions needed differs from client to client, depending upon their needs.  However, in most cases, stopping smoking can be dealt with in one session and the Hypno Gastric Band procedure is carried out over four sessions.  After each session, I will always talk to you about your progress and answer any questions.

I will never undertake a course of therapy that is inappropriate for you, or that you do not need.

Hypnotherapy has a good success rate.  However, as with all forms of treatments and therapeutic procedures there can be no definite guarantees.  The key to having a successful outcome is you.  It is crucial that you commit to your therapy as much as I will, for it to work effectively.
